How to Keep Your Kids Safe Online

Over the past 12 months, we’ve all spent much more time online. This has allowed us to keep so many aspects of life going; working from home, school, attending activities and an active social life. However, with more time spent online, we’re exposed to much more dangers. The Netflix documentary “The Social Dilemma” highlighted many of these and in particular, the dangers young people face. We would like to invite you to a course that will highlight the key issues, provide good advice on how to protect young people and share what is being done at a macro level to combat these issues.

We’re delighted to have Annabel Turner, from CyberSafe Scotland as our speaker on this course. CyberSafe Scotland is a social enterprise with expertise in child protection and is passionate about protecting children in Scotland and around the world from online exploitation. Annabel, who founded Cybersafe Scotland in 2018, practised as a barrister for 10 years before her work as an advisor to the International Justice Mission’s “Not on My Screen” campaign against Cybersex Trafficking brought her into specialising in children’s digital rights, online harms and online safety. Annabel now works as a speaker and trainer, as well as on the co-designer of resources to help young people online. She is the Co-Chair of the Online Safety, Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Trafficking Sub Committee of the Aberdeen Child Protection Committee.
