International Justice Mission

Violence is an everyday threat to the poor – It’s as much a part of daily life as hunger, disease or homelessness. Established laws are rarely enforced in the developing world—so criminals continue to rape, enslave, traffic and abuse the poor without fear. International Justice Mission (IJM) believe that everyone deserves to be safe and justice for the poor is possible. They are a global organization (that includes over 600 lawyers, investigators, social workers, community activists and other professionals at work in nearly 20 communities) that protects the poor from violence in the developing world. They have spent nearly 20 years on the front lines fighting some of the worst forms of violence, and we’re proving our model works. IJM partners with local authorities to:

RESCUING VICTIMS: Get them out of the place where they’re in danger

BRINGING CRIMINALS TO JUSTICE:  Hold slave-owners, traffickers, rapists and criminals accountable in court

RESTORING SURVIVORS: Give them the support and tools they need to heal and thrive

STRENGTHENING JUSTICE SYSTEMS: Stop violence before it starts by helping strengthen the local justice system

IJM was recently highlighted as one of 10 non-profits “making a difference” by U.S. News and World Report, IJM’s effective model has been recognized by the U.S. State Department, the World Economic Forum and leaders around the globe. Since IJM was established in 1997 they have seen over 23,000 people rescued from oppression, over 27,500 officials receive better training and more than 21 million people protected from violence.

How you can be praying:

  • Prayer for Love: Ask God to give IJM staff a great love for one another, for the victims that they serve, and for those they comfort.

  • Prayer for Perseverance: Ask God to bless IJM staff with perseverance to seek justice and community transformation in the face of oppression, indifference, and corruption.

  • Prayer for Protection: Ask God to protect IJM staff, their families, and the victims of injustice from physical harm and spiritual attack.
