Dan McElderry

Ministry Worker

Dan is married to Holly and they have a 5 year old daughter, Rosie.

He moved to Aberdeen from Northern Ireland in 2015 to study (he uses this term lightly) divinity at the University of Aberdeen. After graduating in 2019, Dan became a trainee at the church alongside delivering scrumptious Pizza Hut to the good people of Aberdeen. Since January 2021 Dan has been employed as a Ministry Worker at the church, involved in preaching, service leading, prayer, youth work and a few other bits and bobs.

Dan has a huge love for sport and currently plays rugby for Aberdeen Grammar RFC, having been involved in various football, frisbee and rugby teams in the past. He sees sport as a wonderful opportunity to worship God with the abilities He has been given, as well as a fantastic opportunity for evangelism. Dan is passionate to see members of the local church sent out into their schools, sports teams, workplaces, streets and more to proclaim the good news of Jesus.

Favourite bible character?
Jesus, firstly because He had a nap and secondly because He saves us.

Favourite Films
Barbie. I saw it 5 times in the cinema.

If you could only eat one colour of food what would it be?
Brown – in my head brown includes beige so you have all the food groups represented – burgers, steaks, weetabix, chocolate, chips, smiley faces.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I was at a fancy restaurant to try and impress a girl and I ordered a langoustine but had no idea what it was. So I just put the whole thing in my mouth and I must have been crunching it for at least ten minutes.
